Inspired Counsel through High Priest Marlin Guin
April 5, 2007 -- JCRB Morning Business Session

“I keep seeing the
faces of the Saints. We’re making…, having a lot of discussion, making a lot of decisions, but
there, there needs to be a passion in our heart for the Saints, a burning passion for the body of
Christ. There will be a hundred different versions of what we have done today, go out from this
Conference. There must be a passion to restore the house of Israel, beginning with the body of
Christ. So, whatever we have done or whatever we do, I am relying upon your passion for the
Saints, for the love of the body to make sure the intent of what we have discussed is clearly
manifest to the Church, so that one is not lost. We must pledge together to do all that we
possibly can to ensure that to be so. The magnitude and the urgency of the work that lies in this
dispensation requires one body, one priesthood, with one voice that is the Lord’s, as it speaks
through His children and all we do and say and all things that are before us, let us consider how
we move together to that end.”

I keep seeing the faces of the Saints. We're making ..., having a lot of discussion, making a lot of decisions, but there, there needs to be a passion in our heart for the Saints, a burning passion for the body of Christ. There will be a hundred different versions of what we have done today, go out from this Conference. There must be a passion to restore the house of Israel, beginning with the body of Christ. We must pledge together to do all that we possibly can to ensure that to be so. Additionally, the below statement was recorded in the minutes. It was shared by Brother Guin regarding the prophetic words he gave a year ago at conference and his decision to not let his name stand for President the coming year:

“And I will say in my own words, simply this—without elaboration—that the Lord gave council and admonition to the church last April, the last thing He said was, ‘I’m waiting for you to decide.’  And when He said ‘you,’ He was referring to the whole church—not just this chamber, these saints.  The Spirit of the Lord rested upon me and told me that the Church has decided.  It is now in His hands.  So, we will see what the Lord thinks of that.  I know not.  And just trust Him, it is His work and not mine or yours.  So, in responding to that counsel from the Lord, as difficult as that decision was, just as you do, I must, I must respond to the direction of the Lord."
